Day 6 16th March - Horizon Project
Today was a pretty good day we were only in the classroom for two periods today as we had pe, languages and maths. It was good to have a day not doing that much work related to the horizon project. Mrs Lambert set us 7 challenges/goals to complete by this week to make it easier and give us something to work forward to and have something more indepth and interesting to talk to on our blogs about. Well we have already completed making a wiki and reading the assesment schedule. I tried to make a reflections page but not make it appear on the navigation sidebar. I haven't achieved this yet so i will try tomorrow! Elena was away today so it makes it a bit difficult to make decisions so i basically organised our wiki and stuff that doesn't invovled writing about things or what we are going to look into etc.etc.

Day 7 17th March - Horizon Project
Today was a good day because we got a lot of things sorted out and we decided on what our context was. We chose rowing as our context because we thought that we could use collaborative webs to teach people about the history of rowing and how it works. We also decided how we would display some of our information - on a wiki page - so that other people could ask questions about the sport and we could give them answers. I think that today Bianka and I made a lot of progress.

Day 8 18th March - Horizon Project
Today the main thing that we did was that we started planningand researching for what we were going to do for the Artistic link to rowing. We decided that apart from the description on the wiki page we will be making, we are going to make a model of a boat to show how they are made and the design of them. Also this will show how the colours fit to different uniforms (we will make a uniform model if we have time). We think that this will make our presesntation a lot more interesting and different to the others.

Day 9 19th March - Horizon Project
Today we covered one of our IT skills which was how to add links to our wikipage related to rowing for the people who are viewing it. Also we wrote up a document about how rowing can link to all of our subjects (English, Art, Social Studies, Science, Technology etc). I think that we got quite alot finished today, seeing as we also researched more on how different boats are made.

Day 10 20th March - Horizon Project
Today we were practicing to make our video using different websites with animations etc. We finally decided that we would use Windows Movie Maker, because we are now allowed to use programmes that are not on the internet, so we will use that and put the video on our wiki. We may have to put it on YouTube first then copy an embeded code but we will figure that out later. Also, we finalised what we are going to do for some of the curricular links as extras e.g. for science we will do a diagram of different muscles that are used for rowing and for art we are making the model.

Day 11 24th March - Horizon Project
Today we made our goals for this week and carried on only one task/goal from last week which was dossier of examples etc. We found a areally good rowing video which shows pople rowing from all sorts of angles. We then uploaded this to our wiki which took a while but we finally achieved it and that was also one of the IT skills we needed to learn. As one of our goals for this week was to finish the template we tried to finish it off today we nearly achieved this goal but need to still finish it off. We also made a clear definition of collaboration webs on our wiki. Since Elena is away next week we need to be working really hard even if we work on seperate things at the same time. It will be a bit of a challenge so when she leaves i just need to 'polish' off thins like making our wiki organised, adding last minute touches to our video.

Day 12 25th March - Horizon Project
Today we got one of our big things done - making the clay boat and almost finishing the wire one. We spent period 3 and 4 working on our clay boat and making riggers and one oar for examples. At first, we made one and it wasn't very good so we did another one, which only took about 20 minutes. Then we added seats, riggers, and an oar. We also engraved DIOCESAN on the side so that it looked like a real boat. Also, we finished the template ( we will keep adding citations though). I think today we acomplished 2 of the main things that we wanted to get done so we were very happy with that.

Day 13 26th March - Horizon Project
Today we did a lot. We set up our website and did a lot of the subject pages on it. We also started our video and started to plan it more. On the website that we are making, we are putting up a variety of pages off the different subjects so that there is more depth in our descriptions that we write on the site. Also, on our mock up site, we have put in a fake upload feature where the kids can upload videos of them rowing so that their coaches can contact them about what they are doing wrong. Tomorow we will be finishing it!

Day 14 27th March - Horizon Project
Today we did as much as we could because it was Elena's last day here working on the project before she goes away to the Maadi Cup for the whole of next week for her own rowing! Today we did A LOT on the website and we finished the main subject links and we finished a lot of the writing on our website. Elena also did a detailed story board and wrote a presentation plan for me because I am going to be presenting the whole project by myself. Today we accomplished a lot today and I am very proud of our efforts.

Hi Bianka and Elena
Well - I see in the SkyWatch mag that the Maadi Cup is being televised live next Friday and Saturday on SkySport. Good luck Elena! And Bianka - so good to hear that you are proud of your efforts - in reality you are the best one to know how hard you have worked and how much you have put in - so good on you - and relax about the presentation - I understand the extra pressure that you have being the "flag bearer" - the key to the presentation will be to just tell everyone about what you have learned, Great effort!!
